10.HABITAT CASE STUDY

Before designing living quarters for our lunar habitat we first wanted to document a study of habitats built on our terrestrial home planet.

08.THE OCTAHEXAHEDRON

Here's our final module that is composed of 18 sides and made of regolith (lunar dust). Panels of different configurations such as "doors" and transparent materials would fill in the frame. In order for it to make an appropriate interior space, we have determined it to be 26 feet in diameter. The square opening measures 8'x8'.

07.OCTATRIHEDRON: SELF ASSEMBLED MODULES

Here are some possibilities of what these modules can assemble into.

06.OCTATRIHEDRON: SELF ASSEMBLY METHOD

Here is a simple animation as to how these modules will move across each other for the purpose of self assembly.

05.MICRO DODECAHEDRON: FOLDING ASSEMBLY METHOD

The micro version of the module would have the same characteristics as the macro.
It would have the capability to fold out, serving as a track for the following modules to fall on. The module would then fold in and attach to other modules to begin constructing any system they were programmed to build .
The micro version could potentially make up macro modules; or serve to construct the "furniture" within any macro module.

04.MACRO DODECAHEDRON: THE COMPOSITE

Here is another module based on the same idea but with a slightly different geometry.
Our geometric shape for this module is the dodecahedron, a three dimensional pentagon.

03.ICOSAHEDRON

Our initial modular study was the a icosahedron; a three dimensional equilateral triangle.

02.THE ALLSPARK

Our intial idea was to conceive the most versatile shape from the subtractive transformation of a simple cube.
